Building Empowered Communities Through Design

Where Design Builds Power, Sparks Change, and Creates Belonging

Design Workshop Foundation partners with communities to expand access to design, education, and planning resources. Through collaboration and capacity building, we help turn local vision into lasting impact.

About Us

At Design Workshop Foundation, our work is rooted in a simple belief: empowered, thriving communities create a better future for everyone. But we can’t do this alone. Real change takes a collective—community leaders, youth, advocates, policymakers, nonprofits, academics, designers, and planners—working side by side.

Together, with partners and shared resources, we can co-create inclusive places that reflect the people who call them home. Imagine what we can accomplish together.

For us, it’s transformational change measured in three ways:

So, what does success look like?

Advancing Equity

Creating access to design that supports social, economic, and environmental well-being.

Icon of a group of five people.

Building Resilience

Helping communities adapt and thrive in the face of change.

Icon of a globe with mountains and a tree.

Diversifying Perspectives

Bringing more voices and lived experiences into design and planning.

Overlapping speech bubbles icon.
