Design Workshop Foundation Now Accepting Applications for the 2026 Community Capacity Building Program Across Colorado’s Front Range
DENVER — Design Workshop Foundation, a nonprofit committed to fostering innovative solutions that promote equity, resilience, and inclusivity within communities across the nation, announced today that applications are now open for its 2026 Community Capacity Building Program. Community based and nonprofit organizations located along Colorado's Front Range are eligible to apply before the May 1 deadline.
This pro bono technical assistance program supports community organizations in advancing planning efforts, strengthening engagement, and shaping catalytic projects that address challenges within the built environment. One organization will be selected to partner with Design Workshop Foundation in a hands on, collaborative process. Together, the team will clarify goals, test ideas, and outline practical steps that move the work forward.
“We are committed to helping communities along Colorado’s Front Range turn vision into clear, actionable progress through the Community Capacity Building Program,” said Sarah Konradi, executive director of the Design Workshop Foundation. “This initiative allows us to bring the firm’s 150 landscape architects and urban planners into direct partnership with local organizations, providing hands-on resources that support community-driven work from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs.”
The Community Capacity Building Program addresses under funding of community led projects by providing no cost support to the selected organization. Employing an approach anchored in environmental, economic, and social equity, the process is designed to elevate community knowledge and build momentum toward implementation. Outcomes may include:
Development of a planning or strategic document to guide next steps and support future fundraising.
Design of events or programming that respond to community needs.
Assistance with an engagement campaign that gathers public input and builds stakeholder consensus.
Finalists may be asked to participate in a virtual interview in May 2026. Project work will begin immediately following selection and conclude by September 2026.
Applications are available here.
